About Nancy Gail Russell

Nancy Russell is an artist and educator. A native of Southern California, Ms. Russell completed her undergraduate work at UTPA and received a BFA degree with an emphasis in painting and drawing. In the year following her graduation, she continued at UTPA and completed the curriculum for art education. She later attended Texas AM Kingsville and earned a M.S. in Studio Art in 1999.  She is currently employed by Texas State Technical College where she has taught art appreciation, art history and drawing. She has also taught in the Brownsville Independent School District and Harlingen Consolidated School District, privately and in community programs, working with students of all ages.

Ms. Russell has been actively involved in valley arts for over 25 years. As owner of Picture This Gallery she promoted area artists and provided a venue for display and interaction. She was a founding member of the Commerce Street Co-Op in Harlingen, and has worked with a number of community programs and organizations. These groups include the Downtown Improvement District, Rio Fest,  CineSol,  the Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum, and Harlingen Art Night.
