From the artist…

“I work with a variety of materials including pen and ink, paint, pencil and collage. Often these materials are used in combination, creating rich color and surface. Experimentation and exploration, allowing one material to respond and interact with another, create unexpected and rewarding results.

Creative expression is often in response to an experience, memory or belief. The challenge is to create work that is representative of these concepts or events, while allowing the viewer to connect to the work their own way.  Imagery and symbols may have personal or universal meaning and are always subject to interpretation.

The ‘why’ of creating art has a long and fascinating history. It is the point in time moving into the Modern Era, with the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist movements, and the jump from realism to concept that I find most inspiring. My background includes over 25 years of teaching and community involvement in the arts. I earned a BFA in Studio Art at UT Pan American, and an MS in Art from Texas A& M Kingsville.”
